Thekkady is indeed a wonderful destination which has a lot to offer to the tourists. Boat ride on the lake Periyar is a must-do activity here. While the sighting of Elephants may not be guaranteed but that doesn’t take anything away from the blissful experience of boating on the placid and serene lake. The breathtaking views of the lake and the Jungle are simply divine and unparalleled. Would also recommend the nature walk inside the Jungle with a Tribal Naturalist. There isn't any other national park in India which gives such diverse options to interact with nature at a very reasonable cost...A short 2.5 hrs nature walk, Full day Trek inside the Jungle, Bamboo rafting after a 2 hrs walk, Night safari on foot, boat ride and much more at a very reasonable cost.
This region is the spice bowl of the world and the Spice Garden Tours are quite informative and interesting. Just ensure to take your guests to a more reputed Spice Plantation and not to a glorified shop masquerading as a Spice Plantation. Kalaripayattu show though quite touristy and commercialized is thoroughly entertaining nonetheless.
There is no dearth of good accommodation options here and it is well connected with places like Munnar, Madurai, Alleppey and Kumarakom.
02 nights recommended.
